About the Artist

Ekaterina Stavrovskaya (born in 1982) is a contemporary Russian artist. She trained in classical arts and art history at Lomonosov Moscow State University in Moscow and later under classical artists c and Vladimir Goosev. Although her early works were completed in the classical, realist tradition, her style has evolved to include abstract, surrealistic, and avant-garde works. Her works are displayed by prominent private collectors in Russia and other countries.

The main theme in the artist’s work is equestrian and sportsman motives (horses, dogs, nature scenes, as well as hunting and fishing trophies). She draws inspiration from her passion for riding and horse training, which she has been pursuing since the early age. She frequently traveled to the Bashkir steppe, where the indigenous Bashkir people has forged a bond with their horses over thousands of years, and horse breeding and riding are a way of life.

The artist has always maintained a mystical connection with horses. "I don't know where this connection originated in me; it's most likely that I was born with it. I remain loyal to these majestic animals throughout my life," says the artist. This is obvious in her art: Being delicately attuned to the emotions of these majestic animals enables her to capture them so accurately on canvas.

The artist considers nature’s beauty and bounty the universal language that people around the world can understand. Her works underscore not only nature’s powerful forces and generosity but also its fragility and call for gentle care and love in our interactions with it.
